Dear Crimson Tide Fan,
As we enter the second half of our football season with our game against Ole Miss Saturday, we are also beginning preparations for our upcoming seasons in men and women's basketball.
Coach Mark Gottfried will have an exhibition - Crimson vs. White - game Saturday, November 1, which will be open to the public. The following week, there will be an exhibition against Global Sports with the time to be determined. The next day Rick Moody's women's team begins its 2003-04 season by hosting Berry College at 2:00 p.m.
Of course, our football team has a lot of games left, including the 11:30 game against Ole Miss Saturday. The Tennessee game will be played at 2:30 on CBS and then our team will get a much-needed week off.
Our volleyball team will be on the road this week against Auburn and Tennessee, but Judy Green's squad will be at home against Miss. State (Friday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m.) and Ole Miss (Sunday, October 26 at 1:30 p.m.).
Don Staley's soccer team has a difficult challenge Friday when it plays at Ole Miss against the West leaders and then competes Sunday against Miss. State. His squad will be at home the weekend of October 24-26, hosting LSU Friday at 7:00 and Arkansas Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Our men golfers are currently hosting the Jerry Pate Invitational in Birmingham and our outstanding senior Lars Brovold continues on pace for an All-American season. Likewise, our women's team has one of the nation's premier players in Darby Sligh, who has been ranked No. 1 in the Golfweek rating system.
Compliance
Chris King, our compliance director, in the on-going effort to update you continually on what you can and can't do, has created a booster newsletter, which is linked here. This is an outstanding effort to inform you of what you can and can't do as a supporter of our program. We are also linking the "Know the Rules Booster Guide."
Both of these informative documents are located on rolltide.com under the compliance area. Chris has gotten extremely positive feedback from his peers across the country on this web presentation.

Cruisin' with the Tide
This spring Coach Mike Shula, his staff and some of our former players will be on the first ever Cruisin' With the Tide fundraiser, benefiting the Crimson Tradition Fund.
Bob Baumhower's Wings Sports Grille is helping sponsor the event, which will be held March 28-April 4, and Total Sports Travel is handling the details of the cruise. All proceeds go to the Crimson Tradition Fund, the source for our facility improvement plan.
The seven-day cruise will leave from New Orleans and include stops in Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel.
For more detailed information, please contact Total Sports Travel at 1-888-367-8781 . . . Or email them at info@totalsportstravel.com.
Major Donation
I would like to thank Bob Pope who has given $250,000 to the Crimson Tradition Fund. Bob is a 1955 graduate of the University. He is the founder, chairman and president of Pope Capital Ventures, a banking and financial consulting firm. One of the football team's new meeting rooms will be named the Robert R. Pope Offensive Team Meeting Room in recognition of Pope's gift.
We are making steady progress with the renovation of the football complex and the new strength and training facility are ahead of schedule in the construction process.
We thank all of you for your support of the University and look forward to seeing many of you on campus the week of the Tennessee game.
Roll Tide,
Mal Moore
Director of Athletics
