The University of Alabama women’s soccer team (2-0) will look to keep its perfect record intact Friday as the team hosts the Chattanooga Lady Mocs.
The Tide and the Lady Mocs have only met once before with Alabama downing Chattanooga 6-1 last year in Finley Stadium in Chattanooga.
“We’re going to face a much inspired Chattanooga team that’s on a mission,” said Alabama Head Coach Don Staley. “They have a much improved program and Coach (J.D.) Kyzer has bolstered their team with some international players.”
Chattanooga, who comes in sporting a 2-0 record, will be gunning for their third consecutive win to start the season, a feat accomplished only once before in Lady Mocs soccer history. They come to Tuscaloosa on the heels of a 3-0 victory over Alabama A&M on Tuesday.
Alabama enters the match averaging four goals per game and is led by freshman Cally Morrill and senior Kim Zarzour who both have scored two goals apiece and have five points each as well. Their five points ranks them second in the conference in points scored.
“Hopefully, we can continue the offensive pace we’re currently at,” said Staley. “We just want to go out, play our own game and dictate the tempo.”
Alabama’s victory over Chattanooga last year marked the end of a 16-game road losing streak and it was also Staley’s 75th career win as head coach of the Tide.
The match is set to kickoff at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Alabama Soccer Complex.
Due to the current construction at the University Recreational Center, parking for the University of Alabama women’s soccer matches will be moved to the north end of the soccer field.
When attending the matches, fans and media are asked to enter via the Recreational Center parking lot off of Campus Drive and proceed back through the gate where a parking attendant will direct traffic to the proper parking spots.
The University of Alabama and the Crimson Tide soccer program would like to thank its fans in advance for their patience and support.
