Belski, Broderson Advance to Finals at Virginia Invitational

Charlottesville, Vir.- Alabama’s Max Belski, currently ranked 30th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, advanced to the final match in flight A at the first annual Virginia Invitational on Saturday.
The three-day event features three singles draws of 32 players and 3 doubles draws of 16 teams. Flight A features six players ranked by the ITA nationally in the 2002-03 preseason rankings.
Belski will play Robert Searle of Wake Forest in the final match on Sunday. In his semi-final match he narrowly defeated Virginia Commonwealth’s Florian Marquardt, 7-6, 7-6. Marquardt is ranked 34th by the ITA. Searle is not currently ranked.
Junior Christen Broderson advanced the final match in flight B by beating Virginia’s Stephen Rozek He will play Ramez Qamer of Rice on Sunday.
In doubles flight C, Senior Brian Isern and Broderson advanced to the final match after defeating Virginia’s Mike Downing and Travis Triplett in convincing fashion, 8-2.
