The University of Alabama volleyball team will get a taste of true competition on Sunday when the squad holds its annual Crimson-White scrimmage at 4:30 p.m. in the Coleman Auxiliary Volleyball Extension (CAVE).
Seventh-year head coach Judy Green will put the team through a 5-game match scrimmage in preparation for the squad’s season-opening competition on Friday, Aug. 30. Following the scrimmage the players will participate in a “Meet the Team” session with the public. Fans are welcome and encouraged to attend the event.
“We have had great pre-season practices,” said Green. “It will be good for the team to have the opportunity to play in a highly competitive situation and to play in front of fans. This scrimmage is also a chance for our fans to get an early look at our team and also the improvements that we’ve made to our home court.”
The Crimson Tide opens the 2002 season against Marshall on Aug. 30 at the Barker GMC Classic in Bloomington, Ill. UA’s home opener comes on Sept. 6 versus West Virginia as part of the Crimson Tide Invitational.
