TUSCALOOSA – For the first time in Alabama volleyball program history, the Crimson Tide received votes for the USA Today/AVCA Coaches Top 25 rankings. UA’s point total placed it among the Top 50 teams in the country according to a vote of Division I volleyball coaches.
In addition, Alabama’s 2002 schedule features three teams ranked in the Top 25 on the preseason poll along with five other squads that also received votes. No. 2 Nebraska, who UA faces on Sept. 14 in Lincoln, Neb. as part of the US Bank/Arby’s Classic, is the highest ranked opponent on the Tide’s slate. The Arby’s Classic field also features No. 24 Santa Clara and Michigan (receiving votes).
No. 7 Florida (Nov. 8) highlights a strong group of squads paying a visit to Alabama’s volleyball home, The CAVE. Other teams receiving votes for the Top 25 on Bama’s home slate include Missouri (Sept. 7), Arkansas (Oct. 13) and South Carolina (Oct. 18).
