Tide Tracksters Successful in Summer Meets

Former University of Alabama hurdling national champion Ron Bramlett continued his track success over the weekend at the 2002 POWERade North America, Central America & Caribbean (NACAC) Under-25 Track & Field Championships in San Antonio, Texas, with a second place finish in the 110m hurdles.
Bramlett, who was a two-time NCAA champion in the event while at Alabama, finished .08 seconds behind winner and Olympic silver-medalist Terrence Trammell.
“Ron ran a good race and I think he has solidified his status as one of the top hurdlers in the country,” said Alabama men’s track Head Coach Harvey Glance.
Bramlett will now contemplate competing on the professional circuit in Europe.
Current Crimson Tide standout Latonel Williams competed for the Jamaican National team at the XVII Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England. Williams, was an alternate on the 400m relay team that claimed the silver medal with a time of 38.62. He ran the anchor leg for the team in the semifinals which placed first in their heat with a time of 39.05.
