Sharrief, considered the state's best running back prospect, is rated by Rivals.com as the nation’s No. 58 "athlete" prospect. The two-time Class 4A 55-meter champion rushed for more than 900 yards as a senior and was one of three Chiefs tailbacks to average more than six yards a carry. As a junior, he played running back and outside linebacker, but missed the last half of the season with an injury. He still had over 700 yards rushing after getting 1,564 yards as a sophomore. He was No. 11 on The Birmingham News’ Super Senior list and No. 77 on The Mobile Press Register’s Super Southeast 120.
