2005 (Senior): The most prolific passer in Crimson Tide history, Brodie Croyle finished his collegiate career owning just about every passing and total offense record in the book. He is first in career completions (488), attempts (869), yards (6,382) and touchdowns (41). He is also the career leader in career total offense with 1,052 plays and career yards (6,205). He has a .562 career passing percentage, fifth on the all-time list and he owns the school record with 190 consecutive completions without an interception. He was 17-11 as the Tide’s starter and won 13 of his last 15 starts. Croyle was offensive MVP of the 2006 Cotton Bowl Classic, connecting on 19 of 31 passes for 275 yards and one touchdown. For the 2005 season, Brodie connected on 202 of 339 passing attempts for 2,499 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was intercepted just four times. He threw for a career-high 330 yards against Southern Miss (21 of 37, 2 TDs) and had a career-long 87-yard touchdown pass against Florida. After rehabilitating his right knee, Croyle did not participate in contact drills during the spring, although he was healthy enough. Brodie is a December, 2005 graduate, earning his degree in Human Environmental Sciences.
2004 (Junior): Off to a promising start and a 3-0 record, Brodie was lost for the season late in the third quarter of the Western Carolina game when he tore the ACL in his right knee. He had successful surgery on Sept. 20. By that point in the season, he had completed 67 percent of his passes (44 of 66) for 534 yards and six touchdowns. He had not suffered an interception in those 66 attempts. Croyle threw for 205 yards in the season opener against Utah State and hit for two TDs in each of the first three games. He was 16 of 24 passing in the Utah State game. Brodie underwent successful surgery on his left (non-throwing) shoulder on Dec. 11, 2003 to repair a partially dislocated shoulder. He participated in non-contact drills during spring practice. Croyle earned the Derrick Thomas Community Service award following spring practice.
2003 (Sophomore): Brodie became the first sophomore in Alabama history to pass for 2,000 or more yards in a season. He was the Tide's starting quarterback in 11 of the 13 games, missing starts against Georgia and Southern Miss with a shoulder injury. He played 750 snaps on the season, with an incredible 100 plays against Tennessee in the five overtime contest. He closed the season hitting on 182 of 341 attempts with 16 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. His 341 pass attempts set the school record and his 16 touchdowns tied the single season record, coincidentally held by his coach, Mike Shula. That record was set in 1985. Croyle was second on the single season chart of completions (182) and in passing yards (2,303). He also set the school record for most total offensive plays in a season with 413 (341 pass, 72 rush) and is third in total offensive yards with 2,311. He hit 24 of 42 passes (.571) for 195 yards and one TD against Oklahoma and threw for 276 yards (22-of-39) against Northern Illinois. He had 248 yards passing and two TDs (21-of-29) against Ole Miss and 247 yards and two TDs (20-of-37) in the season finale against Hawaii. He and Zach Fletcher connected on an 86-yarder against Mississippi State, the fourth-longest scoring pass in Alabama history. He had three passing TDs twice, against Arkansas and Mississippi State. Brodie earned the “Dixie Howell Memorial Award” as the Most Valuable Player of the spring game and was also the “Derrick Thomas Community Award” winner.
2002 (Freshman): Brodie became only the second freshman quarterback since 1979 to pass for over 1,000 yards in a season. Croyle had 1,046 yards passing. Brodie played in 12 of the Tide's 13 games, earning starts in consecutive games against Arkansas and Georgia. He played a total of 327 snaps on the season. Brodie finished hitting 60-of-123 passing attempts for 1,046 yards and five TDs. He threw five interceptions. In his first career start, a 30-12 win at Arkansas, Brodie hit on 12-of-24 attempts for 285 yards and a pair of TDs. He threw a season-long 75-yarder to Shaud Williams against the Razorbacks. He threw for over 100 yards in consecutive games against Arkansas (285), Georgia (197), Ole Miss (179) and Tennessee (128). Brodie averaged 17.4 yards per completion and had 14 plays of 25 yards or more and four that were 50 yards or more.
Prep: Brodie joined the Tide in January and was able to participate in spring practice. He was voted by the coaching staff as the “Ozzie Newsome Most Improved Freshman” award winner. He set the then vertical jump record for quarterbacks with a 32-inch leap.
Prep: Croyle, a SuperPrep All-America, became the first player to commit to Alabama in the Dennis Franchione era. He was also a Birmingham News Super Senior pick. Croyle, who missed his senior season with an ACL injury, passed for 9,323 yards and 105 touchdowns, both Alabama state records during his prep career. He also holds the state record for passing yards in a single game (528), passing yards in a season (3,787), touchdown passes in a season (44), and touchdown passes in a game (seven, a tie). Croyle graduated early and enrolled in Alabama in January in order to participate in spring drills. Brodie was considered by many to be the number one high school prospect in the nation. Croyle, who starred at Westbrook Christian since the eighth grade, passed for 2,838 yards and 38 TD's as a junior. He had only seven interceptions all season. He holds nine Alabama state passing records. For his career, Croyle completed 524-of-997 passes for 9,323 yards with 105 touchdowns and 37 interceptions.
Personal: The son of Teresa and John Croyle, Brodie says his father is the leader he most admires. His father, John, played for Paul Bryant and his sister, Reagan, was a basketball player for the Tide and Alabama's 2000 Homecoming queen. Born 2-6-83. He is a 2005 graduate in Human Environmental Sciences.
