TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- C.J. Medlin, a first-team National Junior College Athletic Association All-America, has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball for the University of Alabama next season.
Medlin, a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was the starting catcher this season for coach Eric Myers at Seminole (Okla.) State Junior College, where he was a two-time all-conference catcher. As a sophomore, Medlin batted .400 with 21 home runs and 61 RBI. He also added 19 doubles and compiled an impressive .839 slugging percentage.
Medlin (6-1, 205) was a 15th round draft pick on Tuesday, taken as the 493rd overall pick by the Chicago Cubs.
Prior to playing at Seminole State, Medlin attended Owasso High School, where he was a three-time all-state performer.
