University of Alabama All-American and defending 110m hurdle national champion Ron Bramlett was named the Southeastern Conference Athlete of the Week by the SEC Office in Birmingham.
Bramlett, a native of Antioch, Tennessee, posted a NCAA automatic qualifying time in the 110m hurdles of 13.36 at the LSU Invitational over the weekend. It also marked the fourth consecutive meet in which Bramlett posted a win and an automatic qualifying time in the event. He has yet to lose a race in either the 60 or 110m hurdles to a collegian this season.
Bramlett's time of 13.36 in the preliminary heat was the ninth fastest time in the world and the top American time this season. The time was also a new Bernie Moore Track Stadium record.
The award marks the first time in his career Bramlett has been named SEC Athlete of the Week and the first time this outdoor season an Alabama athlete has received the award.
Bramlett and the Tide travel to Des Moines, Iowa for the prestigious Drake Relays this weekend, to be held April 25th-27th.
