The University of Alabama dipped into the high school ranks in 2003 to bring former Alabama player Tim Bowens back to the Capstone. Bowens was named Assistant Director of Football Operations that fall in a move that reflected a wider array of responsibilities.
Bowens is still in charge of developing relationships with high school coaches through programs such as the high school coaches clinic offered by the University every spring, as well as developing ties with the NFL. He has the additional responsibilities of assisting in the management of recruiting, office management and game-day responsibilities.
Bowens, is the brother of former Tide linebacker Freddie Roach, and has a sister-in-law, Manisha Redus, who played basketball for the Tide.
Bowens, a four-year letterman at Alabama from 1996-99, came to the Tide after leading Tanner High School to a 7-4 record and a spot in the state playoffs in 2002. Bowens was selected as The Decatur Daily’s 1A-3A Coach of the Year for his efforts.
While at Alabama, Bowens played in 46 career games as a receiver, finishing with 24 receptions for 324 yards. He had a career-long 54-yarder against LSU in 1999. His senior season, Tim was a seven-game starter.
Tim and his wife Lakesha have two sons, Timothy and Taylor.
