Women's Swimming/Diving Finishes 18th at NCAA Championships

Alabama posted its second top-20 finish in a row a the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships led by a pair of individual third place finishes from sophomore Anne Poleska.
The Crimson Tide took 18th with 56 points. Auburn and Georgia took first and second respectively with Stanford coming in third. It marks the fourth year in a row that a Southeastern Conference team has won the title, with Georgia winning the last three.
Poleska finished third in the 200 breaststroke tonight after one of the most riveting races of the meet. Poleska shaved a second off her career best to finish with a 2:07.86. Poleska, champion Tara Kirk of Stanford and Agnes Kovacs of Arizona State all finished more than three seconds ahead of the field, and within half a second of each other. Kirk's winning time of 2:07.36 set an NCAA and American record.
Poleska also finished third in the 100 breaststroke earlier in the meet. She earned All-American honors on both events, setting school records in both as well.
