Tankersley Invited to USA Baseball National Team Trials

Alabama freshman left-hander Taylor Tankerlsey is one of nine nine (9) more collegiate players that have been invited to participate in the 2002 USA Baseball National Team Trials - to be held in Tucson, Arizona June 18-23.
The USA National Team will be selected from a pool of 36 players, of which an additional eight (8) have yet to be determined. For a full roster of the first 28 invitees, log on to www.usabaseball.com.
Tankersley (8-4, 5 SV, 2.67 ERA) has had a steallar freshman season with the Crimson Tide. In 22 appearances, Tankerlsey has logged 64 innings and allowed 19 earned runs and 51 hits, while walking 17 and striking out 60 batters.
Tankersley made his first SEC start of the season May 22 against Miss. State at the SEC Tournament. He worked 7 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on nine hits, with six walks and three strikeouts. After allowing two runs in the first inning, Tankersley shutout MSU over his final 6 1/3 innings.
The win was his eighth of the season tying the single-season freshman record for victories held by B.J. Green (1998) and Scott Murphy (1999).

Louisville's Lelo Prado will serve as the head coach for Team USA. He will be assisted by Terry Alexander of Jacksonville, Sunny Golloway of Oral Roberts, and Terry Rupp of Maryland. The official 22-man Team USA roster will be determined and announced on June 24.
