TUSCALOOSA -- University of Alabama women’s golf coach Betty Palmer announced the signing of Carina Sorensen to a national letter-of-intent to attend UA and play golf for the Crimson Tide beginning next fall.
Sorensen, a native of Norrahammar, Sweden, is no stranger to the Capstone or the women’s golf program as both her older sisters have attended the university. Her sister, Linda, was a four-year letterwinner for the Tide and spent this past season serving as a volunteer assistant coach for Bama while her other sister, Anna, will graduate from Alabama this summer. Linda was also a three-time Academic All-SEC selection and two-time All-SEC honoree.
“I am very excited and thrilled to be adding Carina to our golf team,” said Palmer. “She comes from a very talented golfing family and has a solid level of international golfing experience. She is very familiar with our program and our university and I look for her to fit right in to our team.”
Sorensen is a standout prep golfer for ErikDahlberg High School in Sweden. She is one of the team’s top players and owns an even-par 72 as her personal low competitive round. Sorensen is the first signee for the Alabama women’s golf team during the month-long NCAA signing period.
