
Baseball Team Places 11 on SEC Academic Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala -- A total of 99 student-athletes were named to the 2002 SEC Baseball Academic Honor Roll announced Monday by SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must: 1) have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year (two semesters or three quarters) or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for their career; 2) be a sophomore or higher in terms of academic classification; and 3) have 24 semester or 36 quarter hours toward a degree. The 2002 SEC Baseball Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2000-2001 academic calendar.
Alabama placed 11 players on the 2002 Academic Honor Roll to finish fourth on the list among the 12 SEC schools. The Crimson Tide’s list of honorees include Aaron Clark, Lance Cormier, Scott Evans, Eddie Ferguson, Casey Lambert, Scott McClanahan, Jeffrey Norris, Grant Redding, Matthew Whitaker and Jeremy Vaughn.
Vanderbilt University topped the list with 16 student-athletes on the academic roster. The University of Arkansas and the University of South Carolina were next with 12 honorees.
The 2002 SEC Baseball Tournament will be held Wednesday-Sunday, May 22-26 at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Birmingham, Ala.
