Tide Defeats Arkansas State in Turkey Classic's Final Match

The University of Alabama volleyball team won in three straight games over Arkansas State in the final match of the Alabama Turkey Classic on Saturday.
Alabama advanced to 22-9 on the season while Arkansas State fell to 8-20. Arkansas State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game one before Alabama scored ten of the next thirteen points to go up 10-5 on the Lady Indians. Alabama would continue to lead for the rest of the game and took game one 30-23.
Alabama got a 14-8 lead in game two and then rallied to score ten of the game’s next twelve points to go up 24-10. The Crimson Tide ended up winning game two by sixteen points, 30-14.
The Crimson Tide would clinch the match with a 30-23 win in game three. Alabama was lead by Erin Heffner with fourteen kills and Jennifer Bibber added twelve kills. Kenna Milner lead the team in digs with nine.
“It was really good to see the team bounce back after a tough loss,” UA head coach Judy Green said. “I thought we played more loosely today and with more confidence. I am proud of the team’s effort. We got to play some kids that needed more experience today. Now we just sit back and wait until Monday.”
Michal Evers and Katie Silliman led the Lady Indians in kills with ten apiece. Caitlyn Mitchell led Arkansas State in digs with nine.
The NCAA Tournament field will be announced on Monday. Other results from Saturday’s Alabama Turkey Classic were: Middle Tennessee defeated Samford 3-2; Arkansas State defeated Samford 3-0; and Wake Forest defeated Middle Tennessee 3-0.
