TUSCALOOSA-- Crimson Tide volleyball coach Judy Green announced the signing of Kelley Potter to a national letter-of-intent to attend and play volleyball for the University next fall.
Potter becomes the first member of Alabama’s recruiting class of 2002, signing with the Tide during the NCAA’s week-long early signing period.
A 6-0 outside hitter from Edgewood, Ky., Potter is a two-time All-State selection from Notre Dame Academy. She helped guide her prep squad to back-to-back Final Four state finishes including a runner-up showing during her junior campaign when she teamed with current Alabama standout Kenna Milner. She was also named to the state All-Tournament team. Her prep club experience includes a third-place finish at the Junior Olympic Nationals with the KVT Rockets.
“Kelley is an elite level athlete that will bring quality volleyball experience to our team,” said Green. “She is one of the Top 50 outside hitter prospects in the country. She has all the qualities that we are seeking in a student-athlete including a strong work ethic, competitiveness and a desire and determination. I feel like she fits in well with our returning players.”
Green and the Tide just finished their 2001 season posting the program’s second-best win total with a 22-9 mark. Alabama also recorded its second consecutive double-digit win total in SEC play finishing tied for second in the SEC Western Division.
