Tide's Kim Zarzour Earns Academic All-America Honors

University of Alabama women’s soccer standout Kim Zarzour has been named a Verizon Academic All-American performer.
Zarzour was named to the Verizon Third Team as she posted a 4.0 in Communicative Disorders while helping to lead the Tide to a 10-7-1 record.
“This is a very significant honor for Kim,” said Alabama head coach Don Staley. “She is the epitome of the student-athlete giving 100% in both the academic and athletic arena. It’s great for her and the program alike to receive such wonderful national recognition.”
Zarzour finished the 2001 season having set career highs in goals and points and is currently ranked ninth in assists on the Crimson Tide Top 10 list.
“I’m very honored to receive this award and I’m glad to bring this type of honor to the team,” said Zarzour.
She is the second Tide player to be named to an academic All-American team under Staley. Christine Miller received the honor in 1998.
Zarzour and the Tide will being their spring season schedule on February 23-24 when the team travels to Germantown, Tennessee to participate in the Marriott College Classic.
