After a weekend in which the University of Alabama women’s soccer team did not allow a goal in five games, the Tide defense stepped up again allowing only three goals in four games this passed weekend finishing second at the UAB Tournament in Birmingham.
Alabama started things off with a 2-0 victory over the 85 ODP Team with Missy Keller and Melissa Montgomery providing the two scores.
The Tide then got goals from Kim Zarzour and Dawn Nash in a 2-1 victory over UAB, drew a 0-0 tie with Jacksonville State before dropping a 2-0 decision to the Auburn Tigers.
“Overall it was a positive weekend for us,” said head coach Don Staley. “After this tournament I think we have a little clearer idea of areas we need to improve on.”
Alabama will now spend time on the practice field in preparation for the Ole Miss Spring Tournament in Oxford, Mississippi on April 13.
