The University of Alabama women’s soccer team got their spring season kicked off in most impressive fashion, as they went undefeated in the Memphis Marriott Classic over the weekend.
The Tide defense made an impressive statement at the tournament allowing no goals in five matches.
“Our defense was very impressive,” said head coach Don Staley. “I was very proud of the team this weekend at how hard they worked.”
The Tide defeated Tulane 1-0 on a goal by sophomore Katie Holtzapfel, and then posted three scoreless ties against Indiana, Oklahoma State and the Bush Soccer Club, before Katie Nirider netted the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over host school Memphis.
Alabama will continue its spring schedule this Saturday as they travel to Birmingham to participate in the UAB Tournament.
