The University of Alabama soccer team has announced the signing of Central High School sensation, Christel Osberry for the 2002 season.
Osberry, a three-year participant on the state ODP team, becomes the first player from Tuscaloosa to sign a scholarship with the Alabama soccer program out of high school.
“Christel has been coming to camp for years,” said Alabama Head Coach Don Staley. “She’s a product of the continued improvement of the quality of soccer in Tuscaloosa.”
Osberry possesses terrific speed along with outstanding size. She comes from a family rich in athletic talent as her father played basketball at Auburn and went on to play professional basketball overseas in Sweden.
Staley said he expects Osberry to come in and immediately challenge for a spot on the front line.
