The Crimson Tide received written commitments from Hueytown native Chauncey Harris, Ryan McKinney from Lake Stevens, Washington and John Mwangi from Nakuru, Kenya.
Harris, who is currently attending Lawson St. Junior College in Birmingham, is fresh off a National Championship in the 200m at the 2002 Junior Olympics over the summer.
McKinney, who trained under coach Larry Beatty at Spokane Community College, is an all-conference performer in the decathlon.
Mwangi, a distance runner who competed against current Tide standout Peter Etoot in high school, is considered one of the top athletes to come out of Nakuru. He captured the zonal and district championships in the 5k and 10k.
Mwangi will join the Tide in the spring and will be able to compete while Harris and McKinney will join the Tide next fall in preparation for the 2004 season.
Head Coach Harvey Glance and his staff have until the spring signing period in April to wrap up their signees for the 2004 season.
