Tide Football & Basketball Currently Ranked In Top 10

TUSCALOOSA - The University of Alabama football team is ranked No. 9 in this week's Associated Press national rankings and the men's basketball team is ranked No. 4. It's the second straight weeks both teams have been ranked simultaneously in the Top 10.
Having both teams ranked in the nation's top 10 has occurred in seven different seasons, including this one. The first time was in 1972-73 when the Alabama basketball team spent two weeks in the top 10 in late January and the football team finished No. 7 in the final poll. In 1973-74 the basketball team spent seven weeks in the top 10 after the football team finished No. 4 in the final ranking. In 1974-75 the basketball team spent 13 weeks in the top 10 and the football team finished fifth. In 1975-76 the basketball team spent seven weeks in the top 10, reaching as high as No. 6 on March 2, 1976. The football team was No. 3 in that final poll. In February 1982 the basketball team was ranked No. 8 with the football team ending at No. 7. And on January 13, 1992, the basketball team was ranked No. 8 while the football team was No. 8 in the final AP poll.
