The Alabama men and women's swimming and diving teams defeated LSU in Baton Rouge in the Crimson Tide's Southeastern Conference opener.
The women, swimming a double-dual meet with LSU and Arkansas, fell to the Lady Razorbacks 146-137 while dominating the Tigers 154-127 to go to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the SEC. Alabama's men outscored the Tigers 155-103 to go to 2-0 on the year, 1-0 in the SEC.
The Tide men won 13 of 16 events while the women had several stellar performances, including freshman Candace Weiman's winning 100 butterfly time, which set a pool record.
"We swam some great events today," Alabama head coach Don Wagner said. "You look at these results and you see we're pretty solid. It's also easy to see that we're a better championship team than dual meet squad, just due to our lack of numbers."
Alabama returns to action November 16 against SW Missouri State & Delta State in Cleveland, Miss. starting at 1 p.m.
