Rowing

- Title:
- Graduate Assistant
In her first year as part of the Crimson Tide's rowing staff, Sarah Laurent is charged with the day-to-day details of keeping the program running, taking care of travel arrangements, paperwork and the like while also lending a hand with coaching as well.
"When Sarah was looking toward graduate school, one of the things she was looking for was to stay connected with rowing," Alabama head coach Larry Davis said. "We feel fortunate to have her as part of our staff because she has a real passion for the sport. And not only does she know rowing, but she comes in with experience on the administrative side of things as well."
Prior to joining the Tide, Laurent worked with the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation and the Chesapeake Boathouse which is being developed as one of the main venues for rowing in the United States. She brings that experience of what it takes to organize and take of the logistics of a rowing program to the Crimson Tide.
The University of Tulsa graduate was a standout on the Golden Hurricane's rowing team. A four-year letterwinner, she was part of Tulsa's winning effort in the Club 4+ race at the 2005 Head of the Charles and led her squad to a fifth-place finish in the Championship 4+ race at the 2006 Head of the Charles.
She was selected to Tulsa's "Ultimate Team" in 2005 which honors the top seven student-athletes on campus that year.
In the classroom, Laurent was a three-year member of the Director's Honor Roll and a Conference USA All-Academic Honoree as a senior.
A communication's major with a minor in marketing, she earned her Bachelor's degree in 2007.
In addition to her duties with the rowing team, Laurent is pursuing a Master's degree in communication studies.
