Kennedy Leonard joined enters her first season with the Alabama women’s basketball program as a graduate assistant, head coach Kristy Curry announced on June 20.
Leonard arrives to the Capstone after spending four years playing professionally overseas with Germany, London and New Zealand. She was selected to represent Great Britain in the FIBA U20 European Championship, FIBA EuroBasket Competitions and one-of-four to be picked for the Scottish National 3x3 Team. Leonard served as team captain for the Scottish National Team and for both the London and New Zealand teams.
Prior to her professional career, Leonard spent four years playing at Colorado where she played starting point guard and became the Buffaloes’ all-time assist leader (664) and seventh in all-time scoring (1,635). Her name is also etched in the top-10 for assists per game (1st), minutes per game (2nd), free throws made (6th), steal per game (6th), points per game (7th), steals (7th), games started (8th), 3-point field goals made (9th) and total minutes (9th). Leonard is the only player in Colorado history with 1,600 points, 600 assists and 400 rebounds.
Leonard graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor’s in communication, earning a double minor in business and leadership in May 2019. She is a native of Southlake, Texas.
