All-American and former team captain Jarryd Botha returns for his second season as the men's tennis volunteer assistant coach.
Botha, who played for the Crimson Tide from 2010-13, collected 71 singles wins and 68 doubles victories and was ranked nationally in both categories. As a junior and senior, he advanced to the NCAA Doubles Championship, earning All-America honors with a top-eight seed in 2013. He also represented Alabama in the NCAA Singles Championship as a senior, advancing to the round of 32.
The Cape Town, South Africa native claimed All-SEC honors in 2013, while nearly tripling his singles win total from the previous year. He knocked off three top-10 opponents in singles, including Ole Miss' Nik Scholtz to clinch the Tide's 4-3 victory over the home standing Rebels in the SEC Championship tournament.
Botha, a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, graduated from the Capstone with a bachelor's degree in finance, specializing in investment management. In addition to serving as the Tide's volunteer assistant he also is an assistant pro at the North River Yacht Club. He is married to the former Jessica Hubickey, and the couple has one son, Jensen.
