Faculty/Staff Football Ticket Policy
Faculty/Staff Football Season Ticket Policy
Eligible University of Alabama faculty and staff members and retirees may request to purchase up to four (4) Alabama Football season tickets during the request period each spring (typically February 1-April 1). When submitting the request, faculty and staff will provide a credit card to be charged only if their ticket order is fulfilled. Following the request deadline, seats will be allocated based on years of service (most to fewest). Beginning with the 2025 season, faculty/staff members who are allocated seats in the lower bowl will pay a $250 per seat TIDE PRIDE contribution in addition to the season ticket cost. Fulfillment emails will be sent in early May.
Faculty/Staff Categories
The following categories of active and retired UA employees are eligible to purchase Alabama Football faculty/staff season tickets:
- Category 1: Active full-time permanent faculty/staff members who are eligible for TIAA/CREF matching contributions and active full-time faculty/staff members with 15 or more service years who are ineligible for TIAA/CREF matching contributions. This group includes active staff and anyone who retired within this category.
- Category 2: Active full-time permanent non-TIAA/CREF matching eligible employees with less than 15 years of service, and all regular part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time employees who are participating in State Teachers Retirement. This group includes active staff members who retired within this category. This group also includes ROTC faculty.
- Category 3: The following affiliates of the University: Alabama Credit Union employees, family practice residents, Geological Survey of Alabama employees, house directors, and Alabama Law Institute employees.
Order Fulfillment
Up to five thousand (5,000) season tickets will be allocated to eligible faculty and staff (active and retired). If more than 5,000 season tickets are requested, orders will be reduced to two season tickets based on seniority within each category. Reductions will occur in the following order until total orders reaches 5,000:
- Category 3, fewest years of service to most years of service
- Retired Category 2, fewest years of service to most years of service
- Active Category 2, fewest years of service to most years of service
- Retired Category 1, fewest years of service to most years of service
- Active Category 1, fewest years of service to most years of service
Allocation Procedure
Approximately 700 faculty/staff season ticket seats are located in the lower bowl (section KK, rows 14-43). The remaining 4,300 seats are located in the north and south upper decks. After the April 1 deadline, all faculty/staff who requested season tickets will be sorted by years of service from most to fewest. Seat allocations will begin in the lower bowl in years of service order and continue until the lower bowl section is filled. Once the lower bowl section is filled, remaining orders will be allocated in years of service order in the north and south upper deck until those sections are filled.
Faculty/staff members/retirees may request to have their season tickets allocated together with other eligible faculty/staff members/retirees. Requests should be submitted by both parties via email to the Ticket Office at ticketoffice@ia.ua.edu. Group seating requests will be fulfilled based on the individual with the lowest priority (fewest years of service).
Ethics Law Pertaining to Selling Football Tickets
Faculty/staff football tickets are offered to faculty, staff, and retirees at a rate lower than the face value of the tickets, plus any applicable taxes and fees and a TIDE PRIDE contribution of $250 or more for lower bowl tickets as provided herein. UA employees shall not sell their faculty/staff order sheet or purchased faculty/staff tickets for a profit, as any sale above the purchase price constitutes use of a public position for personal gain, a violation of the Ethics Act. Accordingly, for each ticket resale, faculty, staff, and retirees may only recover the actual cost of the ticket, plus the portion of the taxes, fees, and TIDE PRIDE contribution, if any, associated with each ticket (i.e., total purchase price divided by the total number of tickets).
The following does not represent an actual season ticket package, but is being used simply as a hypothetical illustration for demonstrating how to calculate the resale value of faculty/staff football tickets:
Number of Faculty/Staff Tickets Purchased: 2
Total Ticket Price: $200 ($100 per season ticket)
Face Value per Game Ticket (5 home games)
Game | Face Value |
---|---|
Game 1: | $20/game ticket |
Game 2: | $20/game ticket |
Game 3: | $40/game ticket |
Game 4: | $10/game ticket |
Game 5: | $10/game ticket |
Tide Pride Contribution, Taxes, and Fees
Item | Price |
---|---|
Tide Pride Contribution | $500 ($250 per season ticket) |
Taxes and Fees | $100 |
Total | $600 |
Per game | $120 ($600/5 games) |
Per Ticket | $60 ($120/2 tickets) |
Total Purchase Price | $800 ($200 + $600) |
Maximum Resale Value per Game Ticket
Game/Ticket | Price |
---|---|
Game 1/Ticket 1 | $20 + $60 = $80 |
Game 1/Ticket 2 | $20 + $60 = $80 |
Game 2/Ticket 1 | $20 + $60 = $80 |
Game 2/Ticket 2 | $20 + $60 = $80 |
Game 3/Ticket 1 | $40 + $60 = $100 |
Game 3/Ticket 2 | $40 + $60 = $100 |
Game 4/Ticket 1 | $10 + $60 = $70 |
Game 4/Ticket 2 | $10 + $60 = $70 |
Game 5/Ticket 1 | $10 + $60 = $70 |
Game 5/Ticket 2 | $10 + $60 = $70 |

UA officials investigate reports of any employee selling tickets for more than they paid for them or sale/trade for any value of complimentary tickets. Employees found to have profited from the sale or trade of tickets are subject to being reported to the Alabama Ethics Commission, which can levy fines and criminal charges. In addition, all faculty, staff and retirees who violate this policy are subject to penalties from the Intercollegiate Athletics office. Those penalties include revocation of current season tickets and bans on the purchase of faculty and staff tickets in the future. This policy applies to tickets labeled "Faculty/Staff" or "Complimentary."
Faculty, staff and retirees who individually purchase tickets through TIDE PRIDE separately from the faculty/staff football ticket process may sell those tickets without these restrictions; however, by purchasing TIDE PRIDE tickets, faculty and staff are subject to the ticket terms and conditions that apply to all ticket purchasers regardless of faculty/staff/retiree status.
The University continues to encourage ticket holders to resell or transfer individual game tickets if they are unable to attend an event. However, the University generally prohibits the purchase and resale of tickets by ticket brokers. Ticket brokers are defined as season ticket account holders who purchase tickets with the primary intent of reselling their tickets for profit. The University reserves the right to monitor ticket sales, transfers, and use and withhold season ticket renewal opportunities or cancel ticket orders from any account that exhibits activity consistent with that of a ticket broker. Likewise, the University reserves the right to withhold or alter ticket access for any account that it deems, in its sole discretion, is functioning as a ticket broker.
