Big Al Tryouts
I am excited you have taken interest in trying out for Big Al and choosing The University of Alabama to further your education. Big Al is one of the most recognizable and loved mascots in the nation. As Big Al, you will be an ambassador for the university, and Big Al is not chosen only on talent, but also integrity. Tryouts for the 2021-2022 season will begin April 9, 2021. To be eligible to tryout, you must have a letter of acceptance from The University of Alabama admissions office or currently be enrolled as a full-time student at the university. We will need the following from you:
- Big Al Tryouts Application form
- Student-Athlete Information form
- Consent to Participate and Acknowledgement of Risks Form
- Disclosure of Confidential Information Form
- The University of Alabama Medical Insurance Form
- Copy of Letter of Acceptance (If already a student, just provide your CWID on the application)
- Copy of front and back of your insurance card
- Check for $40 made out to The University of Alabama (application fee)
You can mail or email all forms to the following address or arrange to drop off at the Spirit office in Coleman Coliseum, Room 163. Â

All forms need to be completed and mailed together or dropped off to the Spirit office no later than April 7, 2021. Once we have received all your information, you will be placed on the tryout roster and sent a confirmation email with more information and to set up a zoom interview. Our tryouts will take place April 9 and 10, with more information being communicated and scheduled with you on a one-on-one basis.
