Watson will serve as the Crimson Tide’s Director of Scouting and Analytics/Assistant Coach
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's basketball head coach Pauline Love announced the addition of Cal Watson as Director of Scouting and Analytics/Assistant Coach on Monday.
Watson will join the Crimson Tide staff following a two-year stint at Oklahoma as a graduate assistant where he contributed with on-court player development, game preparations and scouting for the Sooners.
"Cal is one of the brightest young minds in the game when it comes to scouting and analytics," said Love. "He has an elite ability to turn data into winning decisions, and, more importantly, he understands how to translate that to our players and staff. Cal is going to play a major role in how we prepare and develop and, ultimately, how we win at Alabama."
Outside of on-court development, Watson assisted in coding offensive playbooks for the team's game strategy and constructed comprehensive team and individual player data for the staff. Watson also served as one of the Sooner's practice players prior to is assistantship (2021-24).
"I am excited to join the University of Alabama women's basketball program," said Watson.
