Happy New Year from Alabama Athletics
On behalf of Alabama Athletics, Happy New Year! As always, we appreciate your continued support of the Crimson Tide and look forward to making more memories and celebrating lots of victories in 2026.
Hoops Conference Play is Underway
SEC play is in full swing early in the new year as both our men's and women's team enter conference play ranked among the nation's best. Our women began the week ranked No. 24 in the Coaches Poll and host to No. 7/6 Kentucky at 6 p.m. tonight! I hope to see a large crowd to support our team in what will be a battle of ranked opponents. Meanwhile, our men's team came into this week ranked No. 12 in the Coaches Poll and No. 13 in the Associated Press top 25. Head coach Nate Oats and the team will host Texas Saturday night at 7 p.m. CT inside Coleman Coliseum.
Gymnastics Season is Up Next!
Gymnastics season is upon us as head coach Ashley Johnston and our ladies will open the 2026 season on the road this Friday night at 6 p.m. CT when they take on the Clemson Tigers in Clemson, S.C. Following a road meet at Florida on Jan. 16, our ladies will compete in front of our home fans for the first time in 2026 when we host Missouri on Friday, Jan. 23, at 6:30 p.m. CT.Â
Fans can purchase both season and single meet tickets now through the Alabama Ticket Office.

Our swimming and diving teams are back in action beginning with the Tennessee Diving Invite, which is currently underway in Knoxville, Tenn. We will also host Georgia Tech on Saturday, Jan. 10. Our men's and women's tennis teams hit the courts for the first time in 2026 with doubleheaders over the Jan. 16-18 weekend. The women, under the direction of Jonatan Berhane, open up on Friday, Jan. 16 with a morning match vs. North Alabama at 10 a.m. CT at the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility. Our ladies will then take the courts against Jackson State at 2 p.m. CT that same afternoon. The team will close out opening weekend against Arkansas State at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday morning.Â
On the men's side, head coach George Husack will lead his guys into contests against Furman (11 a.m. CT) and Tennessee Tech (4 p.m. CT) on Sunday, Jan. 18. Good luck to our men's and women's tennis teams!
Track and Field Opens 2026 at the Indiana Invitational
Head coach Dan Waters and our track and field teams open the 2026 season on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 16-17, at the Indiana Invitational. The event will take place at the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse in Bloomington, Ind.
ICYMI, Doris Lemngole Wins The Bowerman Award
Our very own Doris Lemngole was named recipient of The Bowerman at a ceremony back on Dec. 18, marking the first time in program history that a Crimson Tide student-athlete has captured collegiate track and field's most prestigious award. In addition, Doris was named the winner of the Honda Sport Award for Cross Country for a second consecutive year and the USTFCCCA National Women's Athlete of the Year after she claimed the cross country individual national title at the NCAA Championships. In doing so, Doris became the first back-to-back winner in the women's race in 14 years! We continue to be amazed at her accomplishments and we're so proud of Doris for the amazing student-athlete that she is, and an even better person!Â
University Spotlight
There were some great stories to come out of The University of Alabama in 2025. Here is a look back at the top 10 headlines from Tuscaloosa last year.Â

We have a special #RollTideFriday photo for you as this week submission comes from Michael Garner Sr. (on left), from Mobile, Ala., along with Interpreter Evrard Rumemeshangabo at the Karera Waterfalls in Rutana, Burundi, Africa. The "Alabama A" is a worldwide brand and I always find it special to see our fans wearing our colors in front of world-recognized landmarks. Keep those photos coming! Roll Tide!
