LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Alabama track and field wrapped up action at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational Saturday with numerous PR-setting and all-time UA top-10 performances.
In the mile, Milicent Wafula ran 4:46.24 for a fifth-place finish, as Crimson Tide teammate Jackson Harris followed suit in the men's race with a 4:03.63 showing for seventh place as both distance runners captured PRs.
Bismack Kipchirchir also competed in the mile as his sixth-place time of 4:01.05 became the seventh-fastest time in UA history. Alabama's pole vaulting duo of Isabella Maple (third) and Amelia Johnson (fourth) recorded the program's 10th-highest mark, as both reached 3.87 meters (12-8.25) in the event.
Crimson Tide multi-athlete John Landers concluded the men's heptathlon with 2,679 earned points across the final three events (60m hurdles – 891 points; pole vault – 840; 1,000m – 948 points). Landers' cumulative point accumulation of 5,595 extended his PR point-total, placing him in third place overall at the meet and bettered his hold at No. 2 spot on UA's all-time list.
Head Coach Dan Waters Said
"This weekend was more about training and execution than anything else. We had a few nice individual performances, but for us it was an opportunity to compete, learn and keep building. We'll take what we need from these two days and turn our attention to tightening things up and being more consistent as we continue through the season and inch closer to postseason."
