Crimson Tide veterans Chloe LaCoursiere (uneven bars) and Gabby Gladieux (floor exercise) tie their respective career-highs of a 9.975
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Competing in front of its home crowd for the first time this season, in front of 9,216 fans, the No. 3 Alabama gymnastics team (2-1, 1-1 SEC) used a season-high score to defeat the seventh-ranked Missouri Tigers (4-2, 0-2 SEC), 197.500 – 197.225.
A trio of Crimson Tide gymnasts picked up four total event titles in the victory, as freshman Jasmine Cawley won vault (9.925), junior Chloe LaCoursiere claimed the uneven bars (9.975) and senior Gabby Gladieux won both floor exercise (9.975) and the all-around (39.575).
Alabama Head Coach Ashley Johnston Said
"It's great to see that we had a season-high score but honestly, it didn't feel like that in moments because I think this team's ceiling is so incredibly high. I think they earned every half-tenth out there tonight. One of our goals coming into the evening was to start strong and it was really exciting to see [Jasmine] step up and start with a career-high 9.925, as a freshman, in her first time competing in Coleman Coliseum. That was a huge deal and a real highlight moment for me and our team. We want to be great in hard moments and that's really something that we want to own as a program – that we play fierce in hard moments, that we handle hard moments better, and looking to Jamison and Gabby (Gladieux) in those last two spots [on floor] when it really mattered, we had to be pretty great in those moments. I think those are the types of experiences that prepare you to be a championship team, that clutch mentality when you know it's on the line, and you're aware of that, so you can step in and crush it.
"Overall, incredibly proud of this group for continuing to stay present, focusing on the moment in front of them and chipping away all throughout the night, never getting too caught up in what's going on. That's another great building block for this season and we're excited to keep it going."
