Alabama to Compete in Starkville Regional in ITA Kickoff Weekend Tournament

The Crimson Tide will face Mississippi State, Auburn and Santa Clara for a chance to advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team will compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend Tournament after securing a spot in the Starkville Regional in Starkville, Miss. The two-day tournament is set to begin Saturday, Jan. 24 with the championship match scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25.
The Crimson Tide will battle as the regional site's No. 3 seed and will face Southeastern Conference foes Mississippi State, No. 1 seed, and Auburn, No. 2 seed. Santa Clara will round out the site as the No. 4 seed.
ITA Kickoff Weekend
- Alabama will face second-seeded Auburn in the opening round on Saturday, Jan. 24, while host school and regional top seed Mississippi State takes on Santa Clara
- The winner of both matches will face off in the championship on Sunday, while the two losing teams will play in a consolation final
- Alabama has won its regional site twice, with its last Kickoff Weekend title coming in 2024 in Lexington, Ky.
- The Crimson Tide advanced to the indoor national championships in 2010 after hosting the Kickoff Weekend regional tournament that year
- UA will make its 12th appearance in the national indoor qualifying tournament after first earning a spot in 2009
- The regional selection also marks the third consecutive appearance for UA and its fifth in six years (2021, 2022, 2024, 2025)
- The 14 regional site winners will join host schools SMU and Baylor to round out the 16-team National Indoor Championships field on Feb. 13-17
