Alabama Finds Early Success in Multi-Meet Weekend

The Crimson Tide saw record-setting performances as Doris Lemngole captured a school, collegiate and world-season-leading performance (9:10.13) in her 3,000-meter steeplechase season debut and Dismus Lokira shortened the UA standard in the men’s 10,000m (27:47.20)
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A world-season-leading performance from Doris Lemngole highlighted a busy week for the Alabama track and field program, as Lemngole's 3,000-meter steeplechase season debut from the Wake Forest Invitational featured a blistering time of 9:10.13. Dismus Lokira added to the list of Crimson Tide standout performances, breaking UA's record in the men's 10,000m (27:47.20) while at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Further highlighting the early-found success, the Tide accumulated nine top-five finishes, spanning across six different events.
Brenda Tuwei joined Lokira at the Bryan Clay Invitational (Wed., April 16), as the duo both recorded a top-10 finish in their respective 10,000-meter races. On the other coast, Leah Kleekamp gathered a PR-setting, fourth-place finish in the women's 5,000-meter race at the Wake Forest Invitational (Thurs., April 17).
Alabama closes its busy week of action Saturday for the final day of the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Fla.
