Alabama Drops Sunday Match to No. 23 South Carolina, 4-1

The Crimson Tide will return to action for a pair of top-15 matches when it travels to No. 15 Texas before hosting No. 2 Texas A&M next week
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team (9-10, 3-8 SEC) fell short, 4-1, to No. 23 South Carolina (12-7, 7-4 SEC) on Sunday.
Although the Crimson Tide was leading on court two in doubles play, the Gamecocks ultimately grabbed the first team point following wins on courts three and one, respectfully. Alabama's sole point came from a retirement on court five. However, South Carolina would take the lead after victories on courts one, three and six.
Match Notes
- The Gamecocks jumped out to a 1-0 lead after earning doubles wins on courts three and one, respectively
- Alabama's doubles duo of Klara Milicevic and Sara Nayar led South Carolina's Bella Larsson and Olympe to an unfinished 5-3 score on court two
- After wins on courts one, six and three, respectfully, South Carolina would go on to secure the team victory
- The Crimson Tide's sole point came from a 6-3 Gamecock retirement on court five
