
Alabama Closes NCAA Championships with Six All-America Honors

The Crimson Tide’s 13th-place finish was aided by a combined 14 All-America accolades
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Alabama concluded the Men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with six All-America accolades over three events.
A school-record performance and a ninth-place finish by the Crimson Tide's 400 freestyle relay team highlighted the night as Zarek Wilson, Charlie Hawke, Kaique Alves and Toni Dragoja earned second-team honors.
Tommy Hagar secured his first individual All-America honor with a 12th-place finish in the 200 backstroke as Nigel Chambers finished 15th on the platform to capture UA's first All-America performance in the event since 2010.
Hawke paced Alabama at the meet, concluding the competition as a four-time All-American. He earned first-team honors in both the 200 and 500 freestyle and the 800 freestyle relay, while finishing with second-team honors in the 400 freestyle relay. He also set a school record in all four events. Alves and Dragoja both secured three All-America accolades for their performance in the 400 and 800 freestyle relay and the 200 free.
Alabama concluded competition in 13th with 93 points, moving up from a 19th place-finish from the year prior (19th-56 points).
Meet Notes
- Nigel Chambers captured the Tide's first All-America honor on the platform since 2010, using a 15th-place finish and a score of 330.60 to secure the second-team nod
- Tommy Hagar recorded a career-best swim in the prelims of the 200 backstroke, propelling him to a 15th-place finish and securing a spot in the consolation finals
- He would finish 12th in the finals, notching his first career individual All-America honor
- Zarek Wilson would record a career-best 100 freestyle time as the leadoff swimmer for the 400 freestyle relay, clocking a 42.32 to pace the Tide to a school record
