Hawke Paces Alabama on Second Night of NCAA Championships

Hawke finished sixth in the 500 freestyle to earn his second All-America honor at the meet and notch his second consecutive first-team accolade in the event
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Charlie Hawke's First Team All-America honor paced the Alabama men's swimming and diving team on the second night of the NCAA Championships.
Hawke earned his second All-America honor in as many days, thanks to a sixth-place finish in the 500 freestyle. He would also break the UA standard in the event, swimming 4:09.52 during the prelims.
Alabama is in 10th place after two days of competition with 43 points.
Meet Notes
- With his sixth-place finish in the 500 freestyle, Hawke is the first UA athlete to earn back-to-back All-America honors in the men's event since Catalin Cosma in 2008 and 2009
- He also earned first-team honors in 2024 after finishing fifth in the event
- Prior to his swim in Thursday's finals, Hawke topped his school record in the 500 freestyle during the preliminary race (4:09.52) to secure a spot in the top heat
- Tommy Hagar bettered his 200 individual medley with a career-best 1:43.33
