The Crimson Tide captured the doubles point and wins at the top three singles spots to down the Commodores
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team captured a 4-0 victory over Vanderbilt on Sunday to secure the Crimson Tide's 10th victory of the year and remain undefeated at home with its eighth win.
Alabama (10-3, 2-2 SEC) won the doubles point and courts one, two and three in singles action to defeat the Commodores (8-5, 1-3 SEC) at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
From Head Coach George Husack
"Solid performance today. Andrii (Zimnokh) and Damien (Nezar) have been competing really well and gave us a nice boost to start the match. That momentum carried into singles. We had a focus lull in the middle of the match but Filip's (Planinsek) finish on court one got our minds right again. I was impressed by Roan (Jones). He's had a tough trio of matches the last two weekends but he competed great today and was rewarded for his purpose driven execution. Mati (Ponce De Leon) had to keep his gloves up against his hard-hitting opponent while also remaining calm and strong from start to finish.
"Overall, a great weekend for the team and happy for the effort they gave throughout. Always fun to play at home and grateful for the support we continue to receive from our fans. There's more for us to learn and plenty of room to grow, which we will, beginning at practice this week. More challenges ahead and we will keep rolling with the punches we take and give."
