The UA sophomore captured a three-set victory to advance to the top eight

ATHENS, Ga. – Alabama's Matic Kriznik earned a spot in the ITA South Sectional Championship quarterfinals on Friday.

Kriznik secured his spot in the top eight off a three-set victory over Georgia's Santiago Giamichelle. The UA sophomore won the opening set off a 7-2 tiebreaker but dropped a tough 6-4 battle in the second round. Kriznik would rally to cruise to a 6-2 victory in the final set to secure the overall match victory.

Kriznik will compete against Auburn's Billy Blaydes at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday.

Alabama will return for day three of the ITA South Sectional Championships on Saturday
