Alabama School Record Falls on Final Night of UGA Fall Invite

Tommy Hagar topped an eight-year-old school record in the 200 backstroke to pace the Tide on the final night of competition
ATHENS, Ga. – A school-record performance from Tommy Hagar paced the Alabama swimming and diving team on the final night of competition at the UGA Fall Invite.
Hagar topped an eight-year-old school record set by Connor Oslin (1:39.23) in 2017 with his first-place finish time of 1:39:03.
In addition to Hagar's first-place finish performance, Cadence Vincent (47.97) topped the 100 freestyle by three-tenths of a second, while the women's 400 freestyle relay team (3:10.62) of Gaby Van Brunt, Vincent, Jada Scott and Emily Jones won by nearly four seconds.
Alabama finished the meet in third place on the women's side with 697.50 points, while the men's team concluded competition in fifth place with 522 points.

- Hagar posted a come-from-behind victory in the 200 backstroke to take the win by a hundredth of a second
- The women's 400 free relay victory marked the fourth relay win out of four events for the women's team
- The quartet's time of 3:10.62 would rank them second nationally heading into the weekend
- Gaby Van Brunt moved to eighth all-time in program history with her 48.25 performance in the 100 free
- Brendan Conners moved to seventh all-time at UA with his time of 1:42.13 in the 200 back
