The Crimson Tide dropped its first Southeastern Conference game on the year, moving to 2-1
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 18/19 Alabama women's basketball team fell at No. 5/6 Texas, 84-40, Thursday night at the Moody Center.
Playing its second consecutive game without leading scorer Sarah Ashlee Barker who is sidelined with an injury, the Crimson Tide (15-2, 2-1 SEC) struggled offensively and was led by Karly Weathers' seven points, three assists and two rebounds. Zaay Green added five points while grabbing seven rebounds.
Madison Booker led Texas (16-1, 3-0 SEC) with 21 points and two assists. Rori Harmon (10 points, 6 assists) and Taylor Jones (11 points, 12 rebounds) each scored in double figures for the Longhorns.

"We tried to stay positive and continue to play the next play. On a night like tonight, things just didn't go our way. You have to continue to stay positive and we tried to do that. You just have to credit Texas. It was one of those nights, those career nights, where everything went their way"
Game Notes
- Karly Weathers went 3-4 (.750) from the floor, tying her best mark on the season for field goal percentage in a single game
- Alabama held Texas to just 25 percent from deep in both halves, limiting the Longhorns to just two made three-pointers for the game (2-8)
- The Tide finished the first half shooting 25 percent (7-27) from the field, making only a pair of three-pointers
- Alabama shot 27 percent from the floor (15-56), 17 percent from deep (4-23) and 50 percent from the line (4-8)
- In comparison, Texas shot 51 percent from the field (33-65), 25 percent from three-point range (2-8) and 76 percent from the charity stripe (16-21)
How it Happened
- Texas opened the game on a 14-3 run over Alabama, taking an 11-point lead halfway through the first quarter before adding another 15 points to conclude the quarter leading 29-7
- Alabama continued to battle in the second quarter however, the Longhorns' 12 points in the quarter extended the halftime lead to 25 points (41-16)
- The Crimson Tide were outscored 26-9 by Texas in the third quarter
- Alabama posted 15 points in the fourth quarter to close the game (84-40)
