Three Crimson Tide gymnasts accounted for at least a share of four event titles, as Alabama hit a season-high rotation score on vault
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 3 Alabama gymnastics program (1-1, 0-1 SEC) came up short to No. 8 Kentucky (3-1, 1-0 SEC) by a score of 197.300-196.100 Friday night inside Memorial Coliseum.
Despite the result, the Crimson Tide still accounted for at least a share of four event titles by Ryan Fuller (uneven bars), Gabby Gladieux (floor exercise) and Lilly Hudson (vault, all-around). Freshmen Fuller (9.925, bars) and Kylee Kvamme (9.900, vault) each captured career-high scores as Alabama also recorded a season-high rotation score on vault, 49.350, behind Kvamme's and Hudson's (9.925) performances on the apparatus.
Alabama Head Coach Ashley Johnston Said
"I saw a lot today from warm ups to the meet. I can't say I've ever been a part of a meet where we had to adapt to situations anything from a judge not seeing a vault so Gabby [Gladieux] had to go again to compete twice which is a really challenging situation to be put in. There were a lot of delays throughout the meet and that was a lot for a team to handle, so I'm proud for the way they continued to try respond, adapt and figure out how to put one foot in-front of the other. Of course, there were mistakes tonight. I've been saying all year we are a young team, and you'll just get better each meet until get thrown into it and start figuring out some of these mistakes. So, I am proud of how they continued to try and fight through a lot of challenging circumstances, but, ultimately, we have to get better at making aggressive decisions to be able to command every movement and hit the way I know we have to.
