
Tabarie Henry to Join Track and Field Coaching Staff

The former NCAA champion and two-time Olympian will aid current assistant coach Blaine Wiley with coaching the Crimson Tide’s sprints/hurdles contingent
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama track and field and cross country head coach Dan Waters added Tabarie Henry to the coaching staff, the program announced Wednesday. Henry will aid current assistant coach Blaine Wiley with coaching the Crimson Tide's sprints/hurdles contingent.
Henry arrives in Tuscaloosa as a two-time National Assistant Coach of the Year. Last season, Henry oversaw sprints and hurdles at New Mexico Junior College. Across both the indoor and outdoor seasons, Henry guided the Thunderbirds to eight individual national championships (five outdoor, three indoor), as the women's side was crowned NJCAA national champions with the men's program finishing as national runner-up.
Prior to his second overall stint at New Mexico Junior College, Henry spent the 2022-23 track season with UNLV, coaching four indoor conference finalists to top-eight finishes, as two student-athletes made the Mountain West Outdoor All-Conference team.
Henry first served on the T-Birds staff from 2019-22, arriving to Hobbs, N.M., after spending one season (2018-19) at Hawkeye Community College where he coached 15 national qualifiers, 12 school record holders and four All-Americans.
As a student-athlete, Henry competed at Texas A&M where he was a back-to-back national champion (2010, 2011), as well as a Big 12 Indoor champion (2011). Internationally, Henry competed for the U.S. Virgin Islands in both the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics, reaching the 400-meter semifinals in both Olympiads.
