
Alabama Swimming and Diving Lands 22 on CSCAA Scholar All-America Team

The Crimson Tide had 11 student-athletes earn first team honors while another 11 swimmers and divers were tabbed second-team honorees
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's and women's swimming and diving team had 22 student-athletes named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America's Scholar All-America Team, the organization announced.
Alabama had five females earn first-team honors in Ella Menear, Diana Petkova, Gaby Van Brunt, Cadence Vincent and Kailyn Winter while Colten Cryer, Tommy Hagar, Charlie Hawke, Tim Korstanje, Jake Marcum and Zarek Wilson were named first-team scholar-athletes on the men's side.
Additionally, Alabama had 11 second-team recipients in Mackenzie Brandt, Brendan Conners, Brendan Conners, Sophia Garrison, Julia Herring, Kasia Norman, Ryleigh Rodgers, Courtney Russo, Sydney Sanders, Trey Sheils and Eric Stelmar.
To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second-Team selections, must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met a "B" time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet.
About the Honorees
- Eight student-athletes were named 2024 All-Americans for their performance at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships
- Charlie Hawke paced the group picking up four All-American honors, including two individual first-team accolades in the 200 and 500 freestyle
- He also earned second-team honors alongside Tim Korstanje and Zarek Wilson in the 400 freestyle relay and Tommy Hagar in the 800 freestyle relay
- Gaby Van Brunt, Cadence Vincent and Kailyn Winter were named Second Team All-Americans for in both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay
- Diana Petkova also earned All-America honors in the 200 freestyle relay
- Jake Marcum earned College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America honors, while Mackenzie Brandt, Korstanje, Petkova and Winter were named all-district honorees
- Hawke, Korstanje and Wilson earned Second Team All-Southeastern Conference honors, while Hagar, Sydney Sanders and Van Brunt were named to the All-Freshman team
- Colten Cryer, Peter Edin, Julia Herring, Ryleigh Rodgers and Courtney Russo advanced to the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships
- All 22 student-athletes scored points for Alabama at the SEC Championships
