
Alabama Celebrates 2024 Season with Year-End Awards

The Crimson Tide handed out its annual awards during its end of season banquet Wednesday evening
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama gymnastics program celebrated its season Wednesday evening during its end of season banquet.
The last award of the night, and the highest honor bestowed upon an Alabama gymnast each season, The Lewis Each Courage Award, went to Makarri Doggette.
The 2021 Southeastern Conference uneven bars individual champion and four-time All-American had her fifth and final season cut short following an Achilles injury during the regular season. Prior to her injury, Doggette had accumulated individual event titles on both vault and uneven bars, while setting season-high scores of 9.900 and 9.950, respectively.

- David Dutton Memorial Award: Chandler Breedlove
- Given to a member of the program who goes above and beyond for the program
- David DeSantis Community Service Award: Ella Burgess
- Given to a member of the program who has made a significant contribution to the community around them
- Fern Hampton Academic Award: Mati Waligora
- Given to a gymnast each year who demonstrates a relentless pursuit of academic excellence
- David Patterson Work Ethic Award: Chloe LaCoursiere
- Penney Hauschild Award: Sara Hoben
- Pat Huet Presidents Award: Chad Murdock
- Most Improved Award: Isabella Martin and Corinne Bunagan
- Given to the individual who showed true ownership in their improvement this season by working on bettering themselves, and the team, to help the program achieve excellence
- Rookie of the Year: Chloe LaCoursiere
- Given to the individual who added the most value to the team and the program's success. The gymnast must have competed in their first competitive collegiate season to be eligible.
- Most Consistent Award: Gabby Gladieux
- Given to the individual who showed a steady presence in lineups and was dependable in any circumstance throughout the season
- MVP Leader/Teammate Award: Makarri Doggette
- Given to the individual who brought vocal leadership and a team-first approach. This gymnast inspired the team and challenged her teammates to strive for excellence.
- MVP Gymnast Award: Luisa Blanco
- Awarded based off a statistical analysis of the season as a whole
The Crimson Tide finished eighth nationally, making Alabama one of just two schools in NCAA gymnastics history, along with Utah, to never finish out of the top 12. Alabama also finished second at the SEC Championships, continuing its streak as the only school to never finish outside the top four in the conference championships – its 21st top-two finish in the last 25 years. For the second time in three years, UA posted a trio of 198 team scores during the season, as well as three perfect 10s from Lilly Hudson (vault) and Luisa Blanco (vault, floor exercise).
