Alabama Athletics Places 56 Student-Athletes on SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll

The Crimson Tide’s tally includes student-athletes from five UA teams that all made NCAA Championships appearances
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama placed 56 student-athletes on the Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced Thursday.
A combined total of 34 members from the Alabama men's (13) and women's (21) swimming and diving teams received the recognition. Both squads are coming off a successful season which included top-25 NCAA Championship finishes – 19th for the men and 23rd for the women.
The NCAA Tournament West Region champion men's basketball team saw four members of its Final Four squad selected to the list. Women's basketball tallied five honorees as the program made its third NCAA tournament appearance in the last four years.
The Crimson Tide also had 13 gymnasts selected for the honor, following the program's 38th top-eight NCAA finish.
To earn a place on the honor roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.0 or better grade-point average for either the preceding academic year or their career and be a sophomore or better in academic standing. The winter list honors those student-athletes that participate in men's & women's basketball, equestrian, rifle, gymnastics and swimming & diving.
So far this season, Alabama has placed 159 students on the SEC fall and winter honor rolls. Additional names will be added to the Tide's tally when both the spring and first-year list are released later this year.
