
Alabama’s Sedlackova and Hiser Earn Second Team All-SEC Honors

Sedlackova and Hiser are the Crimson Tide’s 23rd all-time selections for the all-conference second team
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama's Petra Sedlackova and Anne Marie Hiser picked up Second Team All-Southeastern Conference women's tennis honors, the league announced on Wednesday. Hiser earned the award for the first time in her career, while this is the second time Sedlackova has gathered the recognition.
Sedlackova led the Crimson Tide from the No. 2 spot in the lineup for majority of the year and Hiser played a part in the top doubles lineup while also contributing in the middle of the order for Alabama.
Petra Sedlackova | Second Team All-SEC
- ITA Southern Regional Women's singles champion
- Defeated Kinaa Graham of LSU (6-0, 2-6, 6-1) to become the first Alabama player to claim the event title since 2012 and third in program history
- Competed in the ITA National Fall Championships
- Leads Alabama in singles play with a 19-10 record with a trio of wins over ranked opponents
- Since Nov. 16, 2023, Sedlackova has remained in the ITA singles ranking – earning her highest ranking of her career at No. 50
- Defeated then-No. 3 Noel Alexa of Miami in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) to move on to the consolation quarterfinals of the ITA National Fall Championships
- Downed Iowa's then-No. 51 Chelsea Bluestein in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-3)
- Defeated No. 91 Aran Teixido Garcia of LSU on April 12 to claim her seventh singles victory in SEC play
- In doubles play, Sedlackova has earned 11 victories with two different teammates
- Sedlackova and doubles partner, Anna Parkhomenko, served at the No. 2 spot in the lineup for Alabama in all SEC matches except for one
Anne Marie Hiser | Second Team All-SEC
- Secured 13 singles victories for Alabama, including a pair of wins over ranked opponents
- Served in the lineup at the No. 3 spot and collected a 9-4 record
- Has earned a win in both the No. 4 and No. 5 spot in the lineup
- The senior defeated then-No. 113 Mariya Polishchuk of Texas Tech during the ITA All-American Championships on Oct. 6, 2023
- Downed Clemson's then-No. 123 Cristina Mayorova on Sept. 17, 2023 during the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic
- Hiser defeated then-No. 75 Mell Reasco of Georgia in straight-sets (6-1, 6-4) on March 28
- Hiser and doubles partner, Loudmilla Bencheikh, have remained in the ITA Doubles rankings since March of 2023
- The doubles duo earned their highest ranking (7th) on March 19 of this year – marking the first Alabama doubles team to be ranked in the top 10 since 2015
- The two have served at the No. 1 spot in the doubles lineup for the team for all but two matches this season and collected 13 victories overall, including earning 10 of those wins during the spring
- In the fall, Hiser and Bencheikh defeated Georgia's No. 1 doubles duo Aysegul Mert and Dasha Vidmanova, who currently rank No. 9 nationally
