Enzo Aguiard and Zach Foster paced the Tide in the loss to the Gamecocks in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament
BATON ROUGE, La. –– The No. 19 Alabama men's tennis team (17-12) fell, 4-2, to No. 24 South Carolina (15-13) Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament.
South Carolina took an early lead, winning back-to-back doubles matches for the opening point. Enzo Aguiard and Zach Foster highlighted the Tide in singles action with victories on courts four and six, respectively, but the Gamecocks captured wins on courts three, one and two to clinch the team victory.

"Disappointing day. The moral of the story is you can't leave opportunities on the table and expect to be successful. We also can't rely on four singles victories every time we step on court. We have the ability and will need to step up our preparation during these next 10 days before NCAAs. It's like final exams. You either cover all the bases and are well prepared for anything and everything or you don't and leave empty-handed and wondering what just happened. We're better than that and will move forward."
Match Notes
- The Gamecocks captured the opening point off back-to-back wins on doubles courts one and three
- South Carolina followed with a singles win on court three to move ahead 2-0 in the match but wins from No. 110 ranked Enzo Aguiard on court four and Zach Foster on court six evened the match
- Aguiard took the first set against Lucas da Silva, 6-4, before securing a commanding, 6-1, win in set two
- Foster battled Carter Morgan in a two-set victory, posting a 6-4, 6-2 decision to even the team score at 2-2
- South Carolina, however, would record wins on courts one and two to advance in the tournament
