Alabama Signs Arkansas Pine-Bluff Transfer Zaay Green

The 2018 McDonalds All-American will join the Crimson Tide for the 2024-25 season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team officially welcomed guard Zaay Green to the 2024-25 team head coach Kristy Curry announced Tuesday. As a 2018 McDonald's All-American starter, Green joins the Crimson Tide from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where she played in 55 games with the Lions after originally signing with Tennessee.

- A two-time First Team All-SWAC selection who played in 55 total games with the Lions
- Green comes to Alabama by way of UAPB, where she completed a Lions roster that posted a 12-7 Southwestern Athletic Conference record during the 2023-24 campaign
- She helped lead the Lions to a quarterfinals victory during the SWAC Tournament after having a career-high 32 points with eight assists
- Green ended the year with a team-high 484 points, averaging 16.7 points per game
- She also led the Lions in rebounds and assists, averaging 7.6 rebounds per game and 5.6 assists per game
- Green led UAPB in nine individual game-high categories, including field goals made with 11 at Oregon State (Nov. 6, 2023) and at Oregon (Nov. 8, 2023)
- Green started her collegiate career at Tennessee, where she spent two seasons (2018-19 and 2019-20) with the Lady Vols
- Was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and was awarded the Freshman of the Week honor twice
- She then transferred to Texas A&M for a season (2020-21) and won a regular season SEC Championship title with the Aggies
- Prior to her collegiate year, Green was tabbed as a five-star recruit, ranking No. 10 overall and was ranked as the second-best guard in the HoopGurlz ESPNW Top 100
- In 2018, Green started in both the 2018 McDonald's All-American game and in the Jordan Brand Classic and was named to the Naismith All-America Third Team and Max Preps All-America Fourth Team
